Land and Natural Resources
In Kigoma Municipal Council Land use and environmental management should be carried out in accordance with Land, Forest, Fisheries,Beekeeping and Environmental Acts and Policies which are advocating sustainable use and management of Land and Natural Resources.
Greater part of the Municipal Land is cultivated and the remaining are protected areas (forests,). Some patches are left uncultivated because they are on very steep slopes and some are swampy areas. Livestock keeping is also practiced in wooded and open grasslands.Land is more intensively used in the Municipal than in other part. Deforestation and bush fires are common practices in the Municipal. Tree planting is now becoming common but these efforts are frustrated by bush fires and livestock grazing by agro pastoralists. Natural regeneration is the main reforestation mechanism.
