Kigoma Ujiji Municipal Council has an ICT unit like other Council which is under council Director, Its main role is to provide ICT Service delivery and Managing information System like:-

OBJECTIVES
To provide expertise and services on application of ICT to the Council.
ICT unit have several activities to be performed under Kigoma Municipal Council which include the following:-
Acquire/ develop, maintain and update software system;
Establish and maintain LAN and WAN;
Provide trouble shooting services to all Council computer accessories;
Design and enforce system security;
Facilitate e-Government and e-Business operation;
Develop data sharing policy in the Secretariat;
Manage IT system;
Undertake studies and propose areas of using IT as an instrument to improve service delivery in the Council;
Install and upgrade the database servers and application tools;
Allocate system storage and planning for future storage requirements for the database systems;
Create primary database storage structures (table space) for different designed applications;
Modify database structures as recommended by application;
Manage and review MIS specifications and service contracts.
Promote Information sharing, transparency and accountability within the
Council and towards the general public
Promote efficient communication among the Council’s staff and stakeholders
Ensure the uninterrupted functioning of those manual and automated information systems and information networks crucial to the Council’s operation
Ensure development and maintenance of ICT systems
Prevent the intentional or unintentional destruction of information
